The culinary musical recital, La cena è pronta, is back! We invite you to join us again for a fun, bizarre, and wonderful evening of song, food, and drink. We have a new menu, and a musical program that features new delights and old favorites.

In case you missed us last year, La cena è pronta ("Dinner is ready") is a recital that explores the many ways food enriches our lives, brings people together, and serves (sometimes) as our downfall. The musical selections range from Mahler, Vaughan Williams, and Duparc, to Bernstein, Porter, Sondheim, and more. And since we also want to share food and drink with you, we will include dinner and libations at the soirée.

But why wait to eat at a post-concert reception? No need! Josh and Alex will prepare and serve dinner while performing the recital. So come, relax, eat, drink, laugh, and be our guest.

A standout performer on the opera stage, American mezzo-soprano Alexandra Rodrick is by turns a fiercely dominating force and a deeply sensitive storyteller. Lauded by Opera News for her "especially healthy young voice," Ms. Rodrick has also been described as "strikingly real," with "vivid acting and a glint of steel in her mezzo-soprano voice" (The Chautauquan Daily).

During the 2018-2019 season, Ms. Rodrick debuted the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni with Chautauqua Opera, and reprised the role with Baltimore Concert Opera, as well as appearing at Vero Beach Opera in a concert of bel canto repertoire. Ms. Rodrick also returned for a second season with VEROZA Japan to sing Mercédès and cover the title role in Carmen under the baton of Maestro Seiji Ozawa. In the spring of 2020, Ms. Rodrick will make her debut with San Diego Opera, singing Berta and covering Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia.
